About Mari
Hi, I’m Mari Boersma, founder of Digital Legacy Archives LLC.
My passion for family history began more than 25 years ago when I started interviewing relatives, collecting family photographs, and researching the stories of the generations who came before me. Since then, I have spent decades preserving family photographs, slides, negatives, documents, audio recordings, videos, and oral histories.
Along the way, I learned firsthand how easily memories can be lost. After losing thousands of digitized files and a recorded interview with my grandmother in a computer failure, I became committed not only to digitizing family history, but also to organizing, protecting, backing up, and sharing it so future generations can benefit from it.
Today, I manage and preserve more than 162 gigabytes of family history materials, have contributed over 2,600 memories to FamilySearch, and have spent years tagging, labeling, and organizing family history records and photographs. My commitment to organization has proven invaluable. When FamilySearch once lost some of the photos I had scanned and uploaded, I was able to quickly re-upload them because I had carefully preserved the original files and maintained an organized filing system. I have also researched family records in archives, libraries, churches, cemeteries, and historical collections throughout the United States and the Netherlands.
Through Digital Legacy Archives, I help families preserve yesterday for tomorrow by protecting the photographs, documents, recordings, videos, and stories that make every family unique.
Because every family has a story worth preserving.
